Abstract

This chapter synthesizes the results of several investigations carried out by the University Human Rights Program of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (PUDH-UNAM) which analyze the reports submitted by various countries of the region to comply with the San Salvador Protocol. The resulting analysis allows the researchers to identify—based on existing evidence—critical deficiencies in policies related to the right to food in the region. Most of the investigations point out the need to reformulate the observed policies departing from a human rights approach able to provide to the right to food a comprehensive perspective in order to move progress toward the achievement of SDG 2.
